It isn't important to me, but you are the person who came in ranting about it, as if it was some big important option. Wouldn't that make life easier as you would need to move in and out of those three files, if three Excel windows were right in a row?

It seems like this would be akin to complaining about a new car because the blue LED of the radio display isn't quite the shade you wanted.

The reason I seem to be making a big deal out of it is because of the number of threads we see in which someone tried "tweaking" or using a third party program to change a trivial little piece of the OS, and then suddenly find their system has serious stability issues. I'd hate to see you mess around with little "tweaking" apps, and then find yourself doing a repair or clean install because of what the program did. We see that a lot.

In this way you are understanding me completely right !!!

The non-grouping is an important fact for me and I would like to disable the forced grouping of WIN7 without any additional software.

But it seems that I need to use some tweak software if I want to achieve this specific setting!

I have JUST formatted, CLEAN INSTALL... ALL BECAUSE OF THOSE 3rd part applications, that we are FORCED to use, because of this OUTRAGEOUS MISTAKES of MICROSOFT...

I was looking for a solution to my problem and found the OP is having the same one I'm having. I read through most of the posts here to see if I could find a solution, but then saw your little diamond in the rough. Your post is not only not helpful to the person who made this topic, but down right ignorant to their situation and apparently completely oblivious to the fact that you are so self obsessed, that you fail to see the reasoning for this because it doesn't effect you the same way it effects the OP.

Having 3 excel documents open does not necessarily mean their contents are similar in any way. I generally have 10-15 windows open constantly at my job and I like the way I have my taskbar icons setup for the most part. First icon is my VOIP phone application, 2nd is Internet Explorer for accessing webmail and other work-related sites. 3rd is notepad for making notes. 4th is Excel document with all my contacts and then I've got some miscellaneous icons to the right of those.

It sucks when I'm working and I have 15 taskbar windows open and then decide to open an Excel document, which has absolutely nothing to do with the 3rd icon on my desktop content-wise, and yet Windows decides even though I enable the Never Group option, that those two Excel documents need to be right next to each other. This not only is annoying, but it messes up my work flow and since I used Excel multiple times a day for my job, it's stupid that I can't completely disable grouping. It looks like a very simple fix that Microsoft could release, but like you, they are probably oblivious to the reason people might need this disabled altogether.

You necroposted in a year old thread to tell me that I'M self-obsessed? Are you kidding me?

I'm not even going to bother reading through a dead topic to even put effort into a response (I'm too busy being self-obsessed). But I'll put it to you in the simplest terms I can. Windows 7, in many cases, works a certain way and can't be changed. Complaining about it doesn't yield much of a solution. So, that means a person either has to find another OS, or get used to doing things the way the OS allows. That's it. The OP made some serious assumptions about my usage...as did you, and then took issue with me doing the same. I don't deal with hypocrisy too well, so I'm leaving it at that.

If you have a personal issue with me, take it to PM. Don't search out a year old thread to accuse me of doing something you are doing yourself.
