Hello again,

I recently took over a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit machine with an onboard Realtek soundcard.

The usual problem with the sound: there is no Stereo Mix/What You Hear, so that I am unable to record or otherwise process what I hear.

I seem to recall that this was disabled by Realtek at the behest of the media mafia.

Can someone point me to drivers which will restore this facility or to posts on this forum which may help.

Regards

Cheemag

All my PC's have Realtek and they all have Stereo Mix. There were a few PC vendors that disabled that function early on.

If its not showing up, RIGHT click in an empty area in the Recording Panel and then Click to show Disabled and Disconnected devices. In many cases this will get the Stereo Mix.

I'm using the High Definition Codec (drivers software) direct from the Realtek site. You can try them.

As luck would have it, minutes after posting in this forum, I discovered just that rather convoluted way of bringing Stereo Mix to life.

Thanks for your rather quick reply !

Thanks to all who responded.

I have the drivers on a CD I made whilst trying to sort this out on another Win-7 Pro machine. As the onboard audio on that is defunct, experience of the Realtek nonsense was forgotten in favour of a USB soundcard.

Cheers
