I have a Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3LR with realtek ALC888 audio and current driver of 6.0.1.6449. I can only get 2.1 through my optical out with the exception of dvd's or the test under sound / properties / supported formats and the test in media center. I think the problem is under playback devices for the realtek digital output the configure button is grayed out so I cannot change the speaker arrangement. I have tried numerous drivers with no luck installed and uninstalled the realtek hd audio manager and or run without it and no change. Windows media or VLC both give me the same result, 2.1 on any video and 5.1 off of dvd's. Anybody got any help or ideas?
