Realtek HD Audio problem

Hi, I'm having a few problems with certain sound drivers in windows 7. I recently done a clean install of Windows 7 and my sound is quite crackly.

In Vista everything was fine and I had the Realtek HD audio software installed.

Now whenever I try to install the same software it says there is no driver to support or something along those lines.

I'm just a bit confused as to what to do next. Whenever I open the device manager to check the driver it says "High definition audio device" and whenever I try to update the driver it says it's already got the latest driver installed.

Any help would be much appreciated
thanks

Try to uninstall the drivers, then the device from "Device Manager" (with the uninstall button on the device's properties). Then download the drivers again. Make sure you're getting the right ones. Get the drivers from the OFFICIAL realtek website, others might be fake... After downloading, install, then reboot. If that doesn't work check for any dust around the audiocard on the back of the PC. Crackling may also be caused by wrongly configured audio settings. Preinstalling the driver (just like I told you) will allow you to start afresh and to make up your full audio config all over again. ;)

It's pointless using a vista driver when I have windows 7 isn't it? anyhoo. I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it using the realtek installer. Went fine but the sound was still crackling and the realtek audio software is nowhere to be found. It's just really frustrating. If I try and install it now I get an error saying device driver error oxooooo103

The drivers from Realtek for both Vista and W7 (32-bit and 64-bit) are in the same package.

a lot depends on the age of the realtek sound chip ,if its more than 2 yrs old ,you will find an older version of the driver [vista] will work better ;)

In the Realtek website when you look for HD audio drivers, at the top it gives you a driver that is supposedly for BOTH Windows Vista and Seven, so this might be some kind of bug in the new version (what's weird is that I myself have a Realtek HD AudioCard and am NOT experiencing any problems with the latest software version). What version of Windows 7 are you running? Is it original software or BitTorrent?

Edit: Yet again - F***! Dwarf and pebbly already covered all that I said XD! I'm getting slow at writing on my keyboard ever since I started using it mostly for gaming... :o

it's genuine. The sound seems to crackle whenever I hover the mouse around. Gets particularly crackly whenever I play a high def video. The quality levels are all normal and if I go higher than cd quality it really makes a noise.

sorted it. I got the last realtek driver before 7 was released. Probably the driver I was running before I upgraded. :)
