Hello
I have an Asus P8Z68-V PRO Rev1 motherboard with onboard sound, and after a Win7x64 reinstall, I now can't see how to get my recording option back from the Realtek options. I don't mean mike or line in. They work fine.

I have several recording applications that enable direct recording of whatever is 'passing through' the sound card, but none of these now work, as the driver software no longer shows my default device available for recording:-(

I've installed latest Realtek drivers but no change.

Any help much appreciated
Thanks

That is called "Stereo Mix" or "System Mixer" depending on the vendor, but its all the same thing (SoundBlaster calls this "what you hear").

Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. Click on the Recording Tab. The Stereo Mix should be listed and if it is enable it (if needed) and then make it the default recording device. If its not shown, RIGHT click in an blank area in the panel and then click both Show Disabled and Disconnected devices. Stereo Mix should now be shown (if ASUS enabled it in their driver) and you can enable it and then make it the default Recording Device. You will then have the capability to record streaming audio from the Internet or whatever you need.

That's just it, there's no 'Stereo Mix' or anything like it. It only ever shows 'Speakers' apart from the digital outputs. I have a Creative 2.1 system which is working with 'Speakers' selected as default.

You are looking in the wrong place. Look at the RECORDING section and not the Playback section of the SOUND panel.

This is what mine looks like

No, not looking in the wrong place.

I have that window but only three items, not four. No Stereo Mix :-(
