I just put together a PC from scratch and when i start my computer it says:
reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.

I put in a copy of Windows 7 Home to boot, and it just continues to say that when i restart/press a key.

Some Info that might help:
The computer does detect my cd/dvd drive (checked through BIOs)
the windows 7 cd does work (tested on my laptop)[also, it is not an upgrade disc]
the cd/dvd rom can run this cd that came with the motherboard, so i know the cd/dvd rom is working.

What I have done and tried:
Google
made sure cd/dvd is on boot first
changed from SATA to IDE connection through BIOS, also tried RAID and AHCI settings.
tried all the ports on the SATA slots with both 3gb and 6gb sata cables on the motherboard

PC:
Western Digital SATA Hard Drive
Samsung 22X DVD burner SATA
ASUS P8Z68-V LX LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Please help as I have no idea why it won't install the Windows 7 OS. I currently do not have any other OS.
Thanks.

Extract the DVD ISO using Imgburn or download another, write to flash stick using Universal USB Installer with Win7 in dropdown menu. Boot under USB, REmovable or HD's using one-time BIOS Boot Menu key with HD set to boot first in BIOS setup.

The disk are all the same: upgrade, full, retail, OEM. It is the key which determines which version will activate.

Other tips including the latest ISO are here: Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7,
same for retail.
