i found out that you can't do the upgrade so i wiped out the hard drive using my desk top and installed win 7 on it and put it back in the laptop like i originally did and it keeps rebooting over and over with no luck. i can set the bios to any thing listed and it still reboots.some one else tried the usb drive too and couldn't do it either.i'm wondering if the bios battery is no good because it wont boot to any but the hard drive or some mobo problem?thanks.

You can't do an upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit if this is what you tried to do. A 64bit system has to a clean install and if your cd drive isn't working you can always make a bootable usb like this:

i don't know if you got my responce but i tried every setting in my laptop for first boot including usb drives.some one all ready tried a usb flash drive and it wont go to any thing but the hard drive which i believe is the default first boot.i wondering if it's the bios/cmos battery is bad or mobo problem?thanks.my cd drive that was in it was bad and i removed but didn't have another one to try.(sata).
