Hello,

I received a random BSOD this evening while watching a news video online. I did not get a chance to see what the blue screen said when it happened this time around. This has been happening sporadically at least a couple of times a month now.

The last time that I had a BSOD, which was around two weeks ago, it had something to do with a "Driver power state failure." In any case, I have uploaded the two minidump files for anyone to diagnose or look at that should hold more information on what caused this to happen. Any assistance on this matter is very much appreciated. Lastly, I should also mention that I had a brief power outage yesterday due to high winds in my area. The computer was running at the time, but I don't think that would cause the computer to produce a minidump file, right?

Thank you for your time,

ComputerTech07

P.S. My system is a two year old Dell XPS 8700 with an i7 processor, a 1TB hard drive, and 14 GB of memory. It is currently running Windows 7 Professional (64-bit).

Hello ComputerTech07 and welcome to 7forums! :)

The attached DMP file is of the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f) bug check.

This bug check indicates that the driver is in an inconsistent or invalid power state.

Code:
BugCheck 9F, {3, fffffa800f976940, fffff80000b9a3d8, fffffa801c453c60}

*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for btfilter.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for btfilter.sys
Probably caused by : btfilter.sys
The above btfilter.sys is a driver for Atheros Bluetooth.

I've already checked at the Dell Support page for XPS 8300 and there doesn't seem to be any driver available from Atheros.

And I believe this would be the one you need, if it's not then the installation will tell you so:
https://www.atheros-drivers.com/dow...os-chipset-with-id-94-and-Windows7-64bit.html

Upsis might have been a bit tired.

Boris, it is XPS 8700, not 8300 ;)
For the XPS 8700 there are updates available.

For the rest you are correct so far I've checked Boris :)
