I've installed Windows 7 from a store bought DVD, and been using it on a brand new built PC for 2 weeks now. One thing that I don't understand and have gone crazy trying to figure out is, what exactly is RECENT PLACES on the EXPLORER.EXE (Computer, aka My Computer) window? You know, that link over in the left hand column of Explorer.exe underneath the "Desktop" and "Downloads" links?

I have clicked RECENT PLACES for the past 2 weeks, and never once has anything shown up in the resulting window. Yet I've downloaded probably a hundred files using Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera during this time. I have navigated to dozens and dozens of local area networked computers and various folders on those network "neighbors", and still, navigating to folders, drives, computer, URLs, and even saving files in Word, Notepad, etc....NONE of this ever results in a single item in the RECENT PLACES window.

So riddle me this Batman, how does this RECENT PLACES thingy work? It surely is not obvious to this individual.

Thanks.
