Not sure if this is the right place to ask.

My recently used program list, keeps wiping, keeps disappearing . . .

I start my PC, the the list starts getting populated, but then after some time, it is empty again . . .

The same happens to recent items list . . .

I had the same problem with Vista, i even tried that registry fix, nothing solved for me :(

Suggestions to solve this ?

Thanks !

Hi sexie,

Do you have both of these checked?

Also, if you use a cleaner program such as CCleaner or Glary Utilies, it will wipe the list of stored programs.

Hi and thanks for answering.

I did not install any kind of registry cleaner on Windows 7 and as you can see below, i do have all 3 options enabled and i told W7 to remember the 10 last used programs . . .

I had the same issue with Vista, i tried everything, even that registry "fix". Nothing worked and/or fixed my problem on Vista.

So, i read some good reviews for Windows 7 and decided to put as main.

Formated everything, installed Windows 7 from scratch in my main drive.

Everything has been working great, yea little bugs here and there, but besides of that i am really happy.

BUT, then the same problem i had in Vista, started happening here.

At the first time, i noticed that it wiped out the "Most used programs" AND "The programs that were pinned in the start menu". The whole left bar was empty . . .

But now (LUCKILY), it just wipes the most used programs and the recently used files . . .

As you can see in the pic below, Irfanview, just got added, after using it for a bit . . . There is no set time, but after a while, it will disappear . . .

I am unsure what to do now, i am starting bout thinking of a full format just to get rid of this crap . . . (Hopefully)

I don't know why it's happening except for the reasons I gave you. Sorry. :(
Do you have an antivirus program installed and actively monitoring and have you ran a full scan? This is the only other reason I can think of being from some form of malware but there may be another reason, I just don't know it.

Yes, i do have an anti-virus (Avast), running a full scan now . . .

I believe, i have solved the problem, i ll test for a few more hours, if it keeps running without wiping itself, i ll report back here what i have done, so that future users with the same problem, can get this damn annoying problem solved ^.^
