Recent W7 repair install issue

For reasons in another thread I today did a W7 repair install. This has left my SSD drive which had 15.6gb free space out of 59.6gb now has only 12gb flat. Question is has this repair doubled up on certain windows files with which I can delete now? Is there a method which can assure removal of only these files and protect the repaired OS?

See if you have any windows.old listed.

Open Computer C drive if it is C. Look in the list to see if there is windows.old next to the Windows folder.

I dont think that a repair install creates a windows.old, that is just for an upgrade or custom install.

Well deleting some things and using CCleaner has got me to 13.6gb free from the 12gb. still wondering why the pre-repair free space was just under 16gb free and now I'm at 13.6 but it's not the end of the world. I knew things would get tight with the 64gb SSD.

I haven't heard of this before.

If CCleaner can't get to them at defaults then manually delete contents within the Temp sub-folders in hidden AppData folders under your active User account, after unhiding files at Control Panel>Folder options>View tab.

Someone else may know for sure where Repair unzips files but AppData temp is a good bet and not needed anyway.

That's another temp folder that can be emptied - looks like it was and content is from after CCleaning.

The hidden AppData temp files are under active User Account, but need to be unhidden in Control Panel>Folder Options>View.
