Recommend 23"+ Monitor for Blu-Ray play back?

So, I have finally reached my limit with all things Apple. When I switched back to Windows a few years ago, I decided to keep my two 23" Apple Cinema Displays because, well, they work, they're big and I like them! However, they are "not a monitor environment authorized for digitally protected material." That's what WinDVD 11 says and pretty much what PowerDVD says as well. Basically what it means is, I can't watch Blu-Ray content on my ACDs.

So, I guess I'm gonna have to suck it up and find some new monitors. One thing I've noticed is that I get get 2, 23"+ monitors from many manufacturers for the price of what one of the ACD cost.

Any recommendations? The Samsungs look good. I have another machine in the kitchen hooked up to a 24" Samsung and I like it. Am I going to run into this issue with other manufacturers? Selling off the 2 ACDs (I already have a buyer) will help displace the cost of new screens. Thanks in advance.

I find it odd that the ACD's fail WinDVD and PowerDVD's HDCP DRM test considering that quite a few films are edited and authored on Mac's using ACD's.

Are you using the older ACD's that require an adapter between the monitor and the PC?

After exhaustive research on the matter, my 23" ACDs are indeed "non-hdcp compliant."

Are you using the older ACD's that require an adapter between the monitor and the PC?

No adapters are being used. My connection is DVI from my nVIDIA 560ti to DVI to the ACDs. Apparently, I either need an HDMI or mini-display port.

It's my understanding that I need to rip the blu-ray content to my hard drive before I can view it with this software; can't just pop the disk in and go. Is this FUD?

On another note, I should've mentioned that the ability to VESA mount is important.

If you're accustomed to IPS panels I wouldn't got for VA or TN models, you will only be greatly disappointed.

Look at the Dell U2311H or Dell U2311HM offerings. Inexpensive E-IPS, and work brilliantly.

$1K for a 24" monitor may be out of the budget, but I just bought my second Eizo S2433WFS-BK 24" 1920x1200 60hz LCD for my second machine (whose old IBM P92 4:3 CRT had finally reached its end-of-life).

I have one machine (dual-DVI ATI HD5770 video) with both (a) Eizo HD2441W and (b) Eizo S2433WFS-BK. The second machine (DVI/VGA ATI HD4850) has just the new Eizo S2433WFS-BK. Eizo no longer makes the HD2441W which I bought two years ago.

VA panel. Simply gorgeous. DVI (with HDCP), VGA, DisplayPort (with HDCP).

Supported digitally by Eizo's Screenmanager Pro for LCD software (via USB connection for control, along with DVI connection for video).

No problem playing BluRay movies with CyberLink PowerDVD9 Ultra.

from what I am reading on that software, it works while using the Bluray disc itself.
Have the program running and put your disc in and then play it with PowerDVD or WinDVD and you won't get any HDCP errors.
they offer a 21 day trial, so might as well download it and try it.

I myself highely recommend the Dell UltraSharp U2410, can be pricey but it is a professional monitor, high color accuracy and performance. Also it is HDCP compatible. Under $600. Dell UltraSharp

The best part in my opinion...its a 16:10 aspect panel, instead of an 16:9 aspect panel. What this means...you have more vertical space which is very good to have on a computer. (16:10 = 1920x1200, 16:9 = 1920x1080)

Plus...VESA mount compatible. :3

I have a Dell Ultrasharp IPS panel U2311H and a Samsung SyncMaster P235.
The Dell blitzes the Samsung. The Dell is a fantastic IPS monitor for the price.
The new equiv Dell is the U2312H and is LED backlit as well.

Note that IPS give consistent images at a range of viewing angles.
