recommend a good 13" laptop with dvd record/player?

thinking of moving into the world of laptops. 13 or 14 inch for general use with graphics. needs a built in dvd record/player. win7 home premium. no bloat ware needed lol. suggestions? there are so many out there, tooooo many. thanks!

Yep, a plethora of then. Have a look.
I have had good luck with Dell, others have not and I have heard Toshiba, while a decent machine, is really bloated.

not looking for wireless. will check out those models. Looking at the HP 4430s as well

narrowed down to HP 4430s or Dell Inspiron 14R 2nd generation..

both have the same specs i3 -2130 2.1 mhz, 320 GB HD 7200 rpm, dell has a bit more memory. don't know much about Dell or HP except they are the dominant sellers. not sure if they come with restore disc so will call their numbers and ask.

Most makers don't supply disks anymore but have the option of making your own. I recommend you do this immediately after you get setup as you like it, and make a back up image to something external too.

I will be the last one to ever recommend dell. You will never know what quality you will receive because they are a lowest bid company. It doesn't matter to them month to month who makes their components, as long as they are the cheapest available.

In the past I would agree with Liquidsnak...but I had to get a replacement PC due to mine being stolen in a break-in and I bought a used Dell, two actually. I also have a Dell laptop which was given to me. All, so far, have been flawless in performance and durability.
I will temper this statement with the fact that many issues in this forum have to do with Dell laptops.

Used dells are more prominent to be good than new ones, not many people get away with selling computers that don't work

decided to go with the Hp 4430s, and what I have learned from this =

there are WAY too many kinds of laptops. Literally thousands of different brands and model permutations. Even HP, some have names like Pro Notebook, some have wierd names like wt4d, can't even compare them with those kinds of names. But it is a tool for a job, and doesnot need to be really high end. so specs read, prices, compared, order placed. Now to dump all the bloat and see about making copies of the windows program in case I need it or want to reformat.
