reconnect to user folders

I am aware there are many articles showing how to move user folders during or after installing win 7. What I am thinking of is something different:

How would I reinstall (clean install) win 7 on drive c if I already have the user folders (documents, pictures, videos, desktop) on a separate drive d?

Would it work if after installation I include the drive d folders in the library and mark them as the default place to save files? Would I then delete those user folders on drive c?

Sorry if this sounds muddling?

You just do it the way you originally did it. Right click the folder in your Users/Your user name/ folder and change the location to where it is on the D drive. When asked if you want to move the contents, click yes, and the folder will be moved. I do it all the time after a clean install. What's in the folder will then show up in explorer like it did the first time you moved them.

Oops my mistake re drive d. I was working from a different operating sytem (dual boot) on my pc and got mixed up with the drive letters!

It looks like the link to Kari's tutorial is about having the user folder on another location which isn't what I wanted. I'm looking to have only the documents, pictures, videos and the desktop folders on another location rather than the whole user folder.

Alphanumeric's method is what I was asking about so I'll probably try that.

Yeah, I only move my User folders, Documents, Pictures etc. I don't move the whole user profile.
