ok so i am trying to find a way to record games like BF3 or MOH. i have friends with cheaper graphics cards than i who can use fraps to do this, but when i do it, no matter what the program, it seems to drop to around 2-5 FPS. ive looked into hardware recording, but WAY too expensive and i will not be able to record 1080p. ive tryed lowering the quality to the lowest settings on both games, and both games still have the same problem. any ideas on how i could still achieve this???

it could be settings your trying to use. like trying to record at full 1080p and at 60 Fps, things like that. have you tried updating you video cards drivers? also try updating fraps to the latest version.

Yeah expect the fps to take a huge hit like that. its the settings your using. try lowering them a bit, and see if that helps the fps.

how can i lower them further, ive tryed full size, half size, 60fps, 30 fps, 15fps, 10 fps, and the graphics quality significantly lowerd, and they both end in the same resault. the game slows to a crawl and fraps only gets about 10 seconds of recording

I don't use fraps to record alot, but i don't think the game settings have anything to do with it. try lowering the res at which you are recording. try 30 fps and untick Force loseles rbg capture and lock frame rate in the video tab of fraps, if you have the ticked. it could also do to your processesor. those game are kinda cpu intensive and could be taking up a huge chunk of resources that fraps may need.

im confused... increase my recording FPS? im recording at 15, but im droping the res from ultra to medium. i wont worie about it, if some one has a better method of recording it that would be great

well recording anywhere between 24 and 30 frames will still look good, even recording in half-size. Another thing i recommend, is saving your videos in another hard-drive. if you save em in the same drive your playing the game on it could slow things down. as for a better method of recording, if you cant use fraps get your handi-cam ready.

yeah, that's what i meant. Your gonna have try a lot of settings on fraps to get the videos how you want them. Try Recording in 24-30 Fps at half size. Stop trying the whole 1080p unless you have a killer machine. Change the default Video Folder on fraps to another hard drive. If none if this works get a handy cam, that really the only other way to record gameplay. Like i said, you gonna have try alot of settings, to get it to work how you want.

why can't you use a tv tuner with a coaxal adapter to record it direct from the card onto the system into a iso file for burning

They can't be no more than about 60 to 70 bucks my dad uses his for video encoding from camcorder to disc or from stream to disc

generaly i would, however, based on the kind of tv tuner you have, may interfere with my eyefinity setup. not 100% sure though, ill look into it, ultimately hardeware is the way to go, as of now it will always be faster than software, and for good reason, so if it works it works, it just cant interfere
