My laptop is an HP Pavillion DV4 1430US
I recently tried creating my Recovery Discs and had a problem.
The problem is that after I got to the 3rd disc, it would always freeze at some point.
This is causing me to use up my discs, for something that isn't even working.
I am running on Windows 7 Home Premium.

You don't need HP's software to do it. Use the built in Windows application.

Have you rebooted then tried again and I disagree with the other poster. If you needed help from HP, they would want you to make HP discs. If you still have trouble creating discs, contact HP and have them send you recovery discs.

1) Windows recovery disk is different from the HP recovery disks. The latter contain an image of the factory set system and when run, will restore the machine to the factory default state. Of course that includes the OS, drivers and various HP propreitary software.

The windows recovery disk is just a PE environment for troubleshooting OS problems. It cannot be used to reinstall the OS.

2) If the recovery disk creation is not working, I would suggest you contact HP and explain the situation. I have seen cases where the OEM has agreed to send the disks free of charge. Even otherwise, they cost only $10-20. Here is the HP page for your model.

3) You can create a recovery usb drive instead of a dvd. Only issue is HP advises 16 gb flash drive for best results and at least an 8 gb drive.
