Hi,
I have been suffering from recurring BSODs in the past months. I had (practically ?) never suffered BSODs before with this W7 install. Triggering events :
After installation of a new Epson XP 245 inkjet printer, BSODs began happening without any obvious triggering event. It has happened in the middle of a podcast, for instance. But it could happen anytime.
It became so annoying that I uninstalled the printer. In the first place, this seemed to correct the situation. Then I tried to reinstall the printer, and failed. Some drivers, which had correctly installed before, would now refuse to do so. I performed several uninstall / reinstall cycles, to no effect. The present state is partly installed, not working. So on top of BSODs, I have a printer which used to work and is now a brick.
Although bricking the printer stopped the frequent BSODs, they still happen quite regularly during my regular imaging routine with Macrium Reflect. Full imaging is especially prone to this. Lately, incrementals have also begun to throw BSODs. My Macrium routine images both the system and data disks.
I don't remember whether BSODs started with the printer install. They might have begun before. Having the printer fully installed and working certainly made the situation much more acute.
Possibly related : before all of this started, I installed Hard Disk Sentinel. At some point, my system drive developed a weak / bad sector next to the beginning, as shown by some of the software tests. There seemed to be something specially unusual about it, since some of Hard Disk Sentinel's tests would uncharacteristically stop when reaching this sector. It's a single defective sector on the whole drive. The rest is OK. I could not understand how to use the program to correct it, so the defect, presumably, is still there.
Thank you for your help.
