Recurring BSOD eventually leads to reactivation of OS

Take memtest. Run for 8 passes and test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes.

The goal is to test all the RAM sticks and all the motherboard slots.

Check your motherboard manual to ensure the RAM sticks are in the recommended motherboard slots. Some motherboards have very specific slots required for the number of RAM sticks installed.

If you get errors, stop the test and continue with the next step.

1. Remove all but one stick of RAM from your computer (this will be RAM stick #1), and run Memtest86 again, for 7 passes.
*Be sure to note the RAM stick, use a piece of tape with a number, and note the motherboard slot.
If this stick passes the test then go to step #3.

2. If RAM stick #1 has errors, repeat the test with RAM stick #2 in the same motherboard slot.
*If RAM stick #2 passes, this indicates that RAM stick #1 may be bad. If you want to be absolutely sure, re-test RAM stick #1 in another known good slot.
*If RAM stick #2 has errors, this indicates another possible bad RAM stick, a possible motherboard slot failure or inadequate settings.
3. Test the next stick of RAM (stick #2) in the next motherboard slot.
*If this RAM stick has errors repeat step #2 using a known good stick if possible, or another stick.
*If this RAM stick has no errors and both sticks failed in slot#1, test RAM stick #1 in this slot.
4. If you find a stick that passes the test, test it in all the other motherboard slots.

If Part 2 testing shows errors, and all tests in Part 3 show errors, you will need to test the RAM sticks in another computer and/or test other RAM in your computer to identify the problem.

In this way, you can identify whether it is a bad stick of RAM, a bad motherboard, or incompatibility between the sticks.
:info: Errors are sometimes found after 8 passes.
:tip: Do this test overnight, before going to bed.

I'm going to have to download and burn memtest from another computer. If I'm booted up normally, or even safe mode with networking, my pc crashes after just a few minutes. I tried to dl memtest and it crashed.

However, it runs fine in safeboot. Also, just in case it helps, there are two new messages from the bsods: CACHE_MANAGER and BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER.

thanks again!

Update: I had previously missed bagavan's instruction to uninstall firefox. I did this in safemode, booted into safemode with networking and have not only updated mse and run a quick scan, I'm 1.5 hours into a full scan. Do you guys still recommend memtest?

Depends on how the next crash occurs.

Let us know if you're able to complete the scan.

I completed the full scan with no errors and burned memtest to a cd. I got errors after an hour of testing during the first pass. I'm currently testing stick one in slot one. I'll let you guys know how it goes I'm a couple days.

If error`s are found in this first pass then ram might be faulty.

Any ways keep us updated

Hello again. I just finished testing all the sticks and slots, 7-9 passes each, no errors. I'm not sure what caused the first error. I booted up normally and after logging onto chrome I crashed again after a minute or so. I'm in safe mode with networking right now, as I was when I ran the scans. Any more advice would be great. I can upload the latest crash dumps if you guys are interested.

Thanks!

My computer is now crashing far too frequently to upload the dumps, even in safe mode with networking. I did extensive memory testing and despite the initial error with all the ram installed, I found no more errors. I've been trying to run offline defender as well to no avail.

Yowza.

I'd say, test ram individually. In different slots.

Hello! I tested all the ram in all the slots. I also finally managed to created a bootable usb and ran windows defender offline, and no threats were found. I'm attaching the latest dump(s). Also, I don't know if this helps, but here are the following messages from the bsods:

BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER - this shows up a bit. I'm beginning to think there may be a problem with my usb hardware.

CACHE_MANAGER

SYSTEM_SERVIE_EXCEPTION

I can't thank you guys enough for your help. Having memtest and defender offline on bootable devices will be helpful over time, so this has been a good experience for me.

I performed the general fix for usb and saw many people with similar problems. Somewhere between the SP! fr 7 and the Nvidia graphics drivers(which the initial exception codes suggested), my usb drivers have been compromised.

Oddly enough, after running windows defender, a bunch of updates come through on my next reboot and I seem to be fine!

Thanks so much for your help! I'll post dumps if I keep having problems.
