My ASUS laptop is experiencing recurring BSODs, about twice a day, unpredictably.

Bug Check String: IRQL_GT-ZERO_At_SYSTEM_SERVICE

Bug Check Code: 0x0000004a

I have no idea what the problem is but it may be to do with an installation of NetNanny.

BlueScreenView, a program that reads dump files for me, tells me it most likely has something to do with ntoskrnl.exe, with adress in stack ntoskrnl.exe+6ede9

In the windows event log, this critical error has

source: Kernel-Power

event ID: 41

Task category (63)

Any help would be appreciated, many thanks in advance.

Welcome to SF Istafa :) .

The bugchecks appear to be caused by a device driver the common denominator is BitDefender,
more specifically its firewall driver. Please remove it.
Do you have another Anti-Virus software that I may have missed?

If you don't. For the time being and troubleshooting purposes use Microsoft Security Essentials.

Keep us posted.

I dont have any other antivirus apart from "windows firewall with advanced security" which came with the operating system but is turned off.

I am reluctant to delete bitdefender as i am not sure if i will lose the rest of my license as i payed for it.

I will find out that if you can keep your licence if you re-install and how first.

Are you sure it isnt to do with NetNanny which is an internet filtering software, which may also access the firewall?

I don't have a confirmation about that, but if it is like any other program I know of
the actual installation and license are independent of each other.

It may be the case are you willing to stop using NetNanny to test things out?
