Hello everyone, It's my first post :) Yeeeaaayyyyy :)

So, here is the problem.

When I drag a file from my Recycle Bin it loses it's filename. It renames to something what begins with a $, like $TRE5TG for example.

I think (but only THINK) that it came with some update, but I'm not sure.

Just to mention that when I do the RESTORE option everything is ok, the problem happens only when I drag the file from Recycle Bin.

I hope someone can help because the problem is VERY irritating for me.

I have noticed that in other places that when a file is open, it will show with a $ or other mark. This is just how Windows does it. The only thing I could reccomend is don't drag it. Hit the restore buttom.

Well, it's very hard to accept that bigmck...
I'm restoring files by dragging for a long time, in the very same OS.
I always drag the files on desktop because I need them immediately, instead when I do RESTORE it goes back to the folder where it's deleted from, whose path is usually soooo painfully long, that I'm really bored to browse... This definitely is a bug, not a feature...

I gotta solve this.

I just checked. you can drag/drop them out of the bin without their name changing.
I had a hunch that it might be occurring if you drag a file to the desltop that had been deleted on a different drive...but that's not the case.
If it came with some update, I would restore to a former point if possible. Let's see if anybody has a better idea since I haven't experienced such behavior yet.

How come it's by desing?
It wasn't like that always... I always dragged the file.
My gf has the absolutely same windows (I installed them both) with absolutely same updates and she does not have that problem.

Loo, try right clicking and dragging from the recycle bin. When the context menu appears, select "move here". See if that changes anything.

look in your folder options and see if there is a checkmark next to "show hidden files and folders". if so, uncheck it and then retest your recycle bin.

In Win 7 it's a radio button choice and it doesn't make any difference which is selected the file name remains the same as the original on my system.

Excellent! It works... I would never try that because I would never say that it can make a difference, but it does :D

Thankssss! I can live with this now! :)
