Recycle Bin Properties Grayed Out

a friend installed a custom windows seven ultimate and it runs great. i run it through its paces for him and i'm pretty impressed. the only two things that irked are when you rightclick the recycle bin and select properties everything is grayed ou, and when you delete something it is out and out deleted and not sent to the bin. i have had no luck finding any information on how to fix both issues. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

it's a 64 bit version of 7

i can rightclick the bin and click properties and get the properties dialog, it's just all options are grayed out. also deleted items do not go to the bin first, they are just out and out deleted.

It sounds like you don't have priveleges on that user account. Try creating a new account with Admin rights and see if the problem persists on that account.

EMPTY RECYCLE BIN option grayed out

in order to empty the recycle bin when grayed out you have to open the recycle bin, click on 'Manage'
then click 'empty recycle bin' It seems we can no longer simply right click from the recycle bin icon on the desktop. Just another reason windows 7/8 SUCKS.

If you have to do that, then it sounds like you may have a corrupted Recycle Bin.

Recycle Bin Corrupted - Cannot Delete File or Folder

You might also see if this below to add "Empty Recycle Bin" to your desktop context menu may help for now if the above doesn't help.
