what i see on the start screen the asus logo shows then black sceen with this on the left upper side '_' then the asus logo shows up again then it loads to windows.

I have an ASUS Z77 motherboard and the ASUS BIOS loads twice on it, too. Everything is working OK. This is my first ASUS motherboard so I have nothing to compare. But, if yours does it, it must be a common thing with ASUS motherboards???

Did you look at the manual regarding the lights?

Does the PC appear to operate correctly? If so, I'd assume the lights are to be expected, but...............look at the manual to confirm.

Sounds like you are guessing.

Why would you guess without looking at the manual or pounding Google or reading the Asus website or contacting Asus support?

Red is not a universal sign of something being wrong. My phones and radios have constant red lights.

I did check google and all i saw was posts done on Tomshardware saying that red lights mean some kinda of an error, most of them were saying that its the psu an stuff but it just made no sense so i came here...
i took a look at the manual i can't find anything about this.
can't even find one single video that shows the boot up for this mb.

My board is a P8 Z77 LE Plus. I've tried various things, including updating the BIOS and nothing made any difference. If there is something to get around the double BIOS boot I'd like to know too. My board has an i5 3550 CPU and 8 GB Ram. It is dual boot Win7/Win8, however it has nothing to do with the dual boot as it did it with just Win 8 installed.

Although its a UEFI BIOS, I'm not using UEFI.

Tell us about the ram modules how many, are they a matched pair and what make and model. Are they seated in the proper lanes if only two modules. Also are you positive you don't have extra or the mobo stand offs in the wrong positions?

1. Do the red lights on the motherboard stay on after boot while your computer is running?

Reg lights should come on while the boot is in the bios. They are test lights of various circuits and hardware. Once booted into Windows the red lights should stay off if things are okay.

2. Does you power supply have it's own self diag.?

Some power supplied have a self dia. program that it goes through if the power at the switch or wall is lost or turned off. If will start fans ect to use in the test and then shut off and then boot.

Please post a screen shot of the page you would like us to see from here.

I had a older Asus motherboard PP6X58D-E that had that problem except it booted 3 times.
A bios update solved the problem.
The bios update did not state it was for that problem but I run out of ideas so I tried it.

Do you guys have dual bios on your board, and is fast boot on? This sounds normal to me if you have a backup bios that it checks with. My vi extreme also starts with red lights as it goes through its paces. Red for boot should mean power to the areas then it should go orange then green then normally turn off and only your bios light stays orange I believe.

I don't use fast boot.
Sometimes using fast boot things don't get loaded.
My system still boots around 30 sec.
Different motherboard have a different light structure. That is why one must keep and read the motherboard manual.

I always download the manuals for my main components off the manufacturers website for reference later. In the excitement of the build I tend to gloss over the pages and only going back later do I learn more of its features and benefits.
