I've got a toshiba satillite notebook with windows 7 home premium OEM installed, what i'd like to do is purchase windows 7 ultimate and do a clean install (as i don't want all the toshiba software) but what i would like to know is will the hidden partition be deleted automaticlly or will it let me delete it so i can use the entire hard drive. Can i access and then burn the hidden file to DVD so i can revert back to them if i have any problems

If you do a clean install, you will come to a screen that lets you choose custom or upgrade or advanced. Choose the advanced option, you can increase, decrease partition size or delete. You then get the option, that you should take, to format

Before you fiddle, make sure you've burnt recovery dvds with the inbuilt Recovery software. That'll let you revert to the original version as you got it from the shop, with the OS, and all the drivers. Also it will not need any reactivation after restoring from those dvds.

Good and sound advice from Bill, have seen so many fresh install and wipe the recovery partition and have not made a backup of it.
