Recently I had a pc I was working on that worked very slowly or to the point of nothing responding that was very infected over 1400 detections of various virus's ,a bot and lots of other pup. I removed all threats and then went to manage the drive. 250GB hdd with 2 partitions. healthy partion with 148GB but also a reserved partition at 100GB. The partition was created during OS install. Why is it so large and can I reduce the volume without any isssues?
Otherwise yea leave it alone or clean install and format the disk and don't create a partition for windows to be installed on and you won't end up with the 100mb system reserved at all. windows update

Hi,
If I use this on the entire disk I don't get a system reserved partition
Diskpart
List disk
Select disk n (where n is the letter that was given for your SSD in List disk)
Clean
Create partition primary align=1024
Format fs=ntfs quick
Active (assuming you want to install an OS)
Exit
Also if there is no other disk connected.
Then I simply split the disk in half with disk management after the install.

I have no idea how one goes about getting 1400 infections.
If it was a computer I had to fix I would do a Clean Install.
Then I would choose the security programs needed. No AVG.
Then I would try to explain to the user of the computer some good practices that should be used to give them a better chance of staying away from more infections.
