Solved Reformat gone bad - please help

If one were to make the 'mistake' of leaving a DVD in the DVD drive while reformatting drive C: could it possibly erase what's on the DVD???

No it won`t.

There`s nothing to erase what`s on the dvd.

I decided to try the usb (tutorial) download again. I have just reformatted drive D: and Drive C:

There is one more drive titled Partition 1 - PQ Service.

Should I reformat this partition as well?

I'm thinking there may be an old windows download there. The partition is 14.7 gb and only 3.2 gb of free space.

can you make the USB # 3?

Delete all the partitions if you don`t have any data on them.

Okay, I went ahead and reformatted all three partitions. Partition 1 said the type was an OEM (reserved).

continuing with the download. . .

Correction, I got the same error I received before: Windows cannot install required fields. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart the installation.

I will try it once more. I may have to try to redownload the iso and check back with you guys later.

I am at Step 1 again I believe. I tried installing via usb once again and I received the same error. I suspect that I corrupted the file whenever I first downloaded it, because using the Windows 8 software I was prompted to choose a program to open the file with and I wasn't sure which one to use and chose utorrent. I know it seems like an unlikely choice, but there wasn't any other viable options to choose from that I seen.

I have directed this question last night to the general section of this forum: Which program should I use to open Windows 7 download file?



I will check that now.

Not unless you think there is no need for me to try a fresh download to rule out the possibility of a corrupt iso file. And not unless you think I can still use the Upgrade Disk.

I didn't know you stopped trying.
But right now I need to know what you have already done, what instructions you followed, what steps were executed. If you want my help, I'm willing to pick this up tomorrow. But we've spent 4 hours and the best thng I can say that we accomplished is that we both had dinner.
