Solved Refuses to delete file

Hi
new to the forum and also to Windows 7 so hi everybody and happy new year!
Got problem - down loaded a trial program which ran ok and then downloaded the paid version which didn't run properly. Found there was a file left over from my uninstall of the trial one.
7 won't let me uninstall this one file left. It keeps saying I need an administrator - but I am the only person registered and I AM the administrator! I have tried a new profile but that doesn't help, and I have re-booted etc to no avail. It definitely recognizes me as the admin and lets me delete other files etc but this files refuses to budge.
Anyone got any ideas?

You might see if using the free program Unlocker may allow you to delete it with it.


If not, then you may be able to delete the file using a command prompt at boot. Step 2 in the tutorial below can help show you how to if you like.

Hi Shawn,
many thanks for those suggestions - I will give them a try. There seems to be a problem with the unlocker website at the moment but I'll have another go later, it sounds promising.

You're obviously a lot more clued up than me - Ican I pick your brain about another matter? I have been suspicious about my registry for some time, and I just downloaded a freee trial copy of a registry booster which discovered mega errrors. I have looked through the free and the pay for scans but can't decide which is best - what would you recommend? Is there a decent free booster?

Leave the registry boosters and cleaners alone. Most will damage more than they will ever fix.
Then you get to do a re install of Win 7.

Some of the good ones were good for XP but bad for Win 7.

I agree with Mike. Many registry cleaner and booster programs can cause more damage than what very little gain they may offer.
