Hello,

I work for an insurance company in the IT side over here in New Zealand.

A piece of software we write in-house is updated online, it checks the date format before it downloads, and if it detects the American format of Month/Day/Year it will throw an error (error is ours and known)

This is fine; however on checking the settings, the following 3 areas are set to the correct options.

Formats Tab = English - New Zealand
Location Tab = New Zealand
Default Location = New Zealand (button on bottom of location tab)

Now to fix this, we have to ask them to change all 3 above options to English - United States or any other country, apply the changes, and then reset the above 3 options back to English - New Zealand etc.

Its very strange, we cannot find why after months of digging around in code etc and presume its Windows, where its set to a location but its not 100% implemented.

Another thing I noticed, was when installing Win7 on a machine here, even when setting all 3 to English New Zealand etc during install, it still occurs with this error.

Just wondering if anyone knows of this error?

We are thinking about building our app so that if it detects the US time format it will read it correctly, and if it’s English - US it will just pretend its NZ to stop the time wastage of helpdesk time.

Thanks :)

p.s no we don’t live with sheep and no NZ is not like lord of the rings everywhere :p

Hello NZKFC, welcome to the Seven Forums.

The only other setting that comes in to my mind is locale for non-unicode. No harm done if you try.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply.

In our case this tab does not affect our wee problem.

If the language settings are set a English - New Zealand even before we install the software, sometimes Win7 OS thinks its still US setting.

So we change it all to US, then save, then back to NZ and save. After this the application is installing as per normal etc.

It is quite strange, we can only replicate this on a few installations on Home Premium, Pro & Ultimate 32/64.

1 of 3 installs does this, the rest are behaving correctly.

We found if you install Win7 with default set as US, then modify via control panel once fully installed it works fine, however installing it as English - NZ settings (and other countries for that matter) cause these errors. But even this works sometimes :s

Anyways good to put the feelers out and see what people can think of.

Great site btw, tutorials are just awesome and used by the helpdesk :)
