Okay will have another go will take care on option 7 and 8.This is my first attempt bare with me.please.

I failed.Looking at brinks tutorial the screenshots that he had did no show up for me,Firstly I failed to get it run from the windows disc restarted the pc with disc in drive then pressed all sorts of keys on keyboard to access bios with no luck at all.
Then inserted disc again into drive and it fired up and asked if I wanted to open disc then selected auto run,It went straight to windows install screen but when it came to the positions as brinks tutorial it was completely different I did't have the screen to select US or UK setup it went on to the section of where do you want to install windows it showed the C drive okay,But also showed the windows old sector and there was no choice to format or delete as on the tutorial.
I'm totally confused my son will be calling tomorrow to have a look as his mate does computing.Well don't know what to say I thought that I was getting on fine until disaster came upon me.
It was my first try anyway it might improve someday ''maybe''.Well many thanks for the info you provided but sorry to say in in square one luckily I have an Acer laptop to fall back on.

Hi all okay just for one little niggle,Went to look at my C drive and the old windows are there can I delete these okay.
What went wrong??

For this, did you mean the C:\Windows.old folder? If so, then you don't need to reinstall. You can safely just delete it the Windows.old folder using an option in the tutorial below.

Hi Brink,Regarding the windows old I did try option one but didn't do the job and the other options were a little beyond my knowledge.
Any I have put it all back together as said in last post my son will be here tomorrow maybe his pal can show me the correct way,It was my first attempt but failed It will come to me one day maybe its my 65 yr old brain aint to good as been.

Hi yes I will keep that in mind,Looking back to this morning it started to confuse me when I failed to enter the bios,Is that a very difficult job or was it me wasn't sure what key to press.

There's a very short time frame (few seconds) to press the key to enter BIOS before Windows will automatically load. It's not hard to miss it, and have to restart the computer to try again.

Well my son brought it back and his pal did the job for me all is okay.
Maybe you can help me out on a small item,As I said earlier on that my documents etc are on another internal hdd so now what would be the best way to get those to be available when I click start then documents photo's etc.

Great news.

The easiest way would be to manually copy and paste the files into your current folders.

Yea thanks for that,In doing that all my documents etc will then be on my documents on the C drive,I'm trying to keep my C drive for OS and program files.
Can I make my documents from the other hdd my default folders.Do you understand me.

No problem then. You could add the folder that they are in on the other drive to your Documents library. This way they stay on the other drive, but you can still access them all in your Documents library.

Well grub time is over,
I hope that you don't be offended regarding the last info regarding documents etc.
Been thinking I have a clean C drive now and decided to get rid of a lot of software that I never used it was just sitting there doing nothing.
Coming back to the documents etc,I have made a thought of creating shortcuts on my desktop for the Doc's,Pic's,music'Video.I have them on the desktop and working okay,But the shortcuts have a blue arrow on then I did try and change the icon but failed.Also is it a simple method of maybe getting those folders on the task bar.

Yes they were fine,I just though that I would be different and have a change from the default setup.

Very sorry to get back to you once again,Its about windows old.I looked at the new install on my C drive and there was windows old I right clicked on this and it showed up as 23GB.And the new windows is 31.7GB now is it safe for me to delete that windows old I don't want to make a mess of things now that is running okay.
Looked into disc management it didn't show any partitions.
I'll wait for you to give go ahead before I attempt to delete it.
