Hello there,
I bought an used laptop with windows 7 on it. Now i believe it is OEM version as it has the windows 7 sticker on it so i gues it was preinstalled. Also the key underneeth.

I would like to reinstall the system but i had no dvd nor cd comming with this laptop.
Could anyone tell me how can i reinstall the system in this situation?

This is a windows 7 home 64 bit system. Can i get a cd from elsewhere and just type in my key or will it not work?
Any help would be trully aprichiated.

Hiya bud -

Everything you need including the installer is provided here in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
to get a perfect install. Read through the steps and ask back any questions.

As it says in tutorial, with Dell the Recovery partition won't work after reinstall so it can be deleted during install.

I'd also test the small Dell OEM Diagnostics partition now to see if it boots to check over your hardware: Dell Diagnostics Utility - How to Run the,

If so then during the actual booted Custom install, use the Drive Options in Steps 7 and 8 of Clean Install Windows 7 to delete all partitions except the OEM Tools (Diagnostics), create and Format New as you wish, or just click next in the unallocated space and the installer will do it for you and begin install.

Have your network drivers for wireless and ethernet in the backup so if neither is provided you can install one to get online - plug in by wire to have the best chance. Then immediately enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) and install all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates. After requested reboots, go back to Check for Updates until there are no more.

Then if any drivers are still missing in Device manager, find them on the Dell Support Downloads webpage for your tag number. You can find your network drivers there now.

Hi bremenpl,

I understand you wish to re-install the windows and you are looking for disc. If the recovery partion on the system is still intact then you can perform a PC restore following the link below:

http://dell.to/12PHD5J

It will restore the system to the windows image it was shipped with. If you want to request the discs then you can also visit the link below:

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

Polish is going to be hard to find. If you can find any Polish version you can install and run eicfg removal tool on the ISO file to unlock all versions to install your legal version from the COA sticker.

If forced to download a Polish ISO from torrent, be sure to check the HASH against the TechNet or MSDN hash using a tool like HashTab... is the coolest thing ever! to make sure nothing has been added. Obviously you wouldn't want an illegally cracked version since you own the version on the COA sticker and are entitled to reinstall it as often and however you want with the Product Key on that sticker.
