Reinstalling, my laptot screen is broken

I am in the middle of the process of reinstalling Windows. I clicked on "reinstall windows from an earlier restore-point", and my screen (TV) went black. My computer is a laptop, with a broken screen, it doesnt view anything. Right now, I'm guessing my PC is in BIOS, and doesnt send signals to the TV. I have tried using a DVI cable, but that didnt work. Any suggestions on how I get the PC to send signals via HDMI or DVI cable?
