Reinstalling Windows 7 from Windows 10

Hello, I have a Sony Vaio VPCEG 64 bit and have Windows 10 running and I'm having issues with it and would like to reinstall the original OS Windows 7 Home Premium. Whats the best procedure? And can i use my original product key that came with the computer? Thank You

Sure you can install Windows 7 back on your computer.
If you used your Windows 7 COA key to upgrade to W-10, I'm not sure it can be used again to install Windows 7 again. I don't think it's legal but who really knows with W-10? W-10 might of sucked up a perfectly good Windows 7 COA key.

Just in case you should write down your Windows 7 COA key off of the Microsoft sticker on the laptop. It will be on the bottom of the laptop or in the battery compartment and will look something like this.



Hang in for a while. Their will probably be a member by that knows more about going back to Windows 7 using that COA key.

You can always install the Win 7 HP using installation disk and the COA key.
The best way is to download the drivers from Sony and do a clean install with a Win 7 HP Installation disk.

You can also do a Factory Recover from a image on a recover partition. It's easier but you will get all that useless software from Sony.
You can launch Factory Recover from BIOS.

That "SP2" is well out of date now. A lot of new and superseded stuff. Better to use dism++

MS might do another, but I wouldn't bet on it.

You might look into and consider making a system image of the 10 install irritating as it might be now

Otherwise other posters have already confirmed how to reinstall 7 too bad you didn't make a system image before the upgrade it would be easier than falling off a log to restore 7

As far as entering the computers activation key just remember to not use caps lock when doing it just normal type is needed no capitals.

Still prefer the other methods. Dism++ uses smaller express cabs and warns about telemetry. Simplix has telemetry removed and can add usb3 support.

I have completely updated installtion media also useful for repair installs.

Yep the so called sp2 has allot of known issues with it too so if it were I; I'd likely try SIW2's method
