Ok so i recently upgraded from Windows Vista (x64) to Windows 7 (x64)...i did everything online so i never got any installation discs. So now i want to completely restore my computer but i obviously still want to keep windows 7. I want everything back to "factory settings" but i don't want to lose Windows 7. SO...can get windows 7 installations disks from Microsoft for free? If not can i restore my computer to factory settings then re-upgrade to 7 for free?

THANKS!!!

You need the Win7 DVD for reinstalls and repairs. Order the DVD from MS using your purchase receipt at the 800 number Customer Service number on the site you bought it.

If you can borrow a DVD to copy, or otherwise download it, all versions are included in the installer but hidden due to the presence of an ei.cfg file in Sources folder. Extract files, delete file, recompile into ISO to burn All-Versions DVD using this: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/32055-bootable-iso-create-installation-files.html You can burn the DVD from the same drop down menu where ISO is created.

Then boot the DVD, choose your licensed version, insert the key and clean install. The Upgrade version DVD will scan the HD, see the installed OS (which can be existing Win7), and allow Upgrade version key. You can then use Custom>Drive Tools to delete partitions, create new ones as you wish, and format before install.
