Reinstalling windows

I think I'm going to reinstall my windows,due viruses and some problems.
I'm also thinking in deleting one of the partition.E drive.
Where all the space will be going to C?
Will it run faster with 2 partition only c and d?

x64 will run slow with 2gb, upgrade the ram or use x86.

The number of partitions really doesn't matter too much.

1.) C: being the system drive should be given enough space to accommodate any software you want to install plus space for temp files etc. Now, I don't recommend less then 100G for the C: drive, 150G is good, but it all depends on how and what you use the system for.

2.) I still recommend creating a second or 3rd partion (depending on total drive size) for data storage. And perferably this should be a complete secondary drive anyway, cause if the drive goes bad, it takes the whole drive with it, including all partitions.

3.) Only 2 groups of people exist, those who will lose data and those who have lost data. Devise a backup strategy that doesn't include the single hard drive.

4.) "Will it run faster with 2 partition only c and d?" No, not quite like that. A single whole drive, might run a bit faster, but the differences are so negligible as to not be noticed. Speed is all determined by the design of the drive itself and what features it has.

theog - correct about 64bit running a bit slower with only 2G, but I don't recommend more than 4G. Basically any new system for the average user/gamer does not need more than 4G and minimum should be 4G's of RAM.

Download this free program. Free Download Magic Partition Manager Software - Partition Wizard Online It will allow you to partition your drive as you want it. Be sure and back up your files. == I had a similiar setup like yours. I had one 160 GB disk with my OS and docs on it. I made one C: partition for my programs and OS of 110 GB and one partition of 50 GB for my Docs. I then spent about $50 and got a second HD of 500 GB for my Backups. I have my OS/Programs backup on one partition with about 300 GB of space and my Docs backup on the other partition with about 200 GB. == You might wonder why I have so much backup space. I use Macrium Reflect to back up. Everytime it runs it makes a complete backup of your partition so in a weeks time you have seven copies backed up. I backup my OS / Programs once a week and my Docs ever night. Every few weeks I delete the older backups.
