reloading Dell Optiplex nic drivers - cannot hit the web at present

Well thanks for allowing me to join this forum.
My Dad has a vintage Dell Optiplex, just reinstalled Win XP and now the *^%^$ NIC cannot see the web.

I rechecked and verified that the connecting cable is OK.

I tried downloading a NIC driver from MS, but the installer cannot see it. The hardware manager (control panel) does not show NIC mfg. details so I have to guess. The NIC is built into the board so I can't disconnect it.

Color me stumped...any assistance would be gratefully accepted.

Welcome to SF Mike.
Try Googling the Dell model number for a Dell driver. hopefully you can find a Dell site with specs, drivers, etc. I had good luck with an old Optiplex by emailing Dell support too.
