Hopefully this is in the correct forum.

I have 2 Dell Computers. Both are running Windows 7 Home. One has SP1. The other one doesn't have SP1 because Windows update downloads constantly fail. Everything else on the computer runs normally. I just can't get Windows update to work. I've tried every "fix" that has been suggested. So, with that in mind....

I have a Windows 7 re-install disk that came with one of the computers. I just can't remember which one. :o My question is, can I use the disk on the computer that fails Windows downloads even *if* it wasn't the computer the disk originally came with? It states on the disk that it can only be used on a Dell computer, but since they are both Dell computers with Win 7 Home, that shouldn't be an issue, should it?

Yes, just follow closely Clean Reinstall Windows 7 to get and keep a perfect install.

Afterwards you might need to activate with the Product Key on the COA sticker since the self-activation built into the Dell Reinstallation Disk may only reactivate the intended PC. But otherwise it is a normal Win7 installation disk with just some Dell branding added.
