I've built systems with gen 2 and 3 CPUs. The 4 gen Haswell got a reputation for running on the hot side so better thermal fixing of the 5th gen sounds good.
Having said all that (phew...), is the time between CPU releases getting shorter? It seems you need to shell out on new CPUs and motherboards if either one of an older generation fails. My Intel 2600k wasn't that cheap and performs well but it would be difficult sourcing a compatible motherboard locally.
