I have been setting up networks and servers for years and I never have had this issue. I am unable to setup Windows 7 Pro 32 bit so That other computer in the same workgroup can access E Drive without needing a Password.
I have turned off Password protected sharing.
Under security for the drive I have added the group everyone with full control.
One interesting thing is that under sharing I am seeing this. I am not allowed to click on the Share… Button.

I have set this up under advanced sharing

You'll have to add the "everyone" Group to the "security" tab along with the "sharing permissions".

The drive I am trying to share is a partitioned drive on the local PC. The p[problem I am having is that it wants a login and password to access the drive remotely. I have turned off have turned off Password protected sharing.

Doesn't matter if you turned off password protected sharing, that setting is for User permissions not drive access. Drive security is much tighter than User permissions, you still need to allow for permissions on the security tab and you may need to take ownership of the drive if it was from another system.

The ownership was Administrator. I changed it to David since I am logged in under that. I have admin rights.

Between that and the Security tab? Like my picture shows, your picture only shows the "Sharing tab" You should be able to access that drive unless mayber there is an A/V software or third party firewall involved.

This looks like it was created on an XP machine.

Oh ok, that setting doesn't get you much unless your machine is really old and out of date. The Security tab should get you access to the drive, or at least it's worked hundreds of times in the past.

After all this time I tried it from a diff computer and no password was required. So now i need to figure out why mine does require a login and password.

Ok figured out what the issue was. I had the same user name on the pcs that required a login which was on the PC i was trying to access the drive on. Thanks for sticking with me on this one.

Yes that will do it everytime. If you use a duplicate User name one of them won't show up. Although that one is a little hard to solve from here when I can't see the extra User name. Glad you got it working david.
