The Remote Comms External Disk Access somehow showed up on my system and everytime I uninstall it I loose access to one of my external hard drives. If I revert to the restore point I created before the uninstall my external drive is back.
When I go to the PLX directory in the Program Files (x86) there are no executeables. I am running Win7 64 at the latest level. Any suggestions?

I too have been unable to find any SOLID information about RemoteComms External Disk Access. The install date is the same day as I installed a Sabrent USB3 drive enclosure holding a 4TB Hitachi drive, so my best guess is that it's some sort of driver, bridge, layer, or some such for either the drive, the enclosure, or the USB3 implementation on that machine (an HP DV7 laptop). I don't know if Win7/64 requires a layer to handle hard drives over a certain size, but if it does, that may be it.

Looking at PLX Technologies, they are a legitimate company (apparently about to be acquired by IDT), but of course they have nothing about this on their website. They DO have a USB3 controller product line, so it's reasonable to assume a driver/layer/etc. is involved.

Wish I could be more help, but that sort of thing is beyond my expertise. Still, maybe it'll help. At the very least, it seems to me to be legitimately required by my system.
