Remote Desktop Connection keeps Timing out

Im running Win 7 Ultimate. I recently installed win XP Mode (along with virtualPC). I usually work from home, so I have to login to my office PC remotely. Im using Nortel VPN client for secure connection. When I connect to my office PC using Remote Desktop Connection, it works fine, however for some reason it keeps timing out every 10 seconds. It re-connects automatically, but its very annoying.
Any idea how to fix this?

Is your office controlled by a 2008 server? Are they using Terminal Services to control your sessions?
Timeout/Reconnects are usually MTU based, it could be firewall/Terminal services settings as well.
You may want to drop MTU down a notch
