Remote Desktop Connection Problem

Hi everyone,

I'm having some trouble with remote desktop connection. I have succesfully configured my desktop to remotely access it. But everytime I start up remote desktop connection it prompts me to "Save File As ... *.xps". The application is driven by the mstsc.exe process, so it starts up when I start my remote session. If I try to save it, it immediately prompts me again for the same thing. Also my One Note Application starts up on my client pc (Laptop) and is also triggered by the RDP connection process.

Any help how to resolve this would be great!!

Here is what I have already tried:
- Tried to just end the Save As .. Application thru windows task manager, but since it is driven by the mstsc.exe, It also closes the remote session
- I Also checked my remote desktop settings on my laptop to check and see if there are any programs listed to start up when I connect, but no progams are set!

Also every once in a while it actually starts up without the prompt and I actually experience a perfect and smooth remote session!

Thanks in advance!

Zafar

Remote Desktop and Save File As Dialog

I have this exact problem, right down to the disconnection of Remote Desktop when I close the dialog.

I'm using Remote Desktop Connection on Windows 7 Pro x64. This was going fine until last couple of weeks.

One possible difference is that even after I connect successfully, the dialog may pop up at some later time while I'm using RDC.

Zafar, did you find an answer?

Anyone else?

Thanks,
Jack

Hello,

start mstsc.exe and click options. Go to local resources and untick printers, see if this resolves the problem.

.xps is for Windows XPD Document Writer. See:
What is an XPS File and How to Open .XPS File extension

Logmein is a good free alternative to RDP. It also saves on port forwarding on the router.

Something tells me that when you were in the remote session you printed to the wrong printer and it is still trying to print to the default xml printer.

change the printer in remote to a good valid one and then select printers and your rdp session should work fine.
