Solved Remote Desktop stopped working.

I have another thread titled "Printer keeps going offline"

the problem today is I Remote Desktop has stopped working today Monday. It worked fine last week and before.
I have tried a lot of things, I have done a system restore to dates last week on a date I know was working on both computers, I have reset the router and the access point.
I am going to try and earlier date on both. I turned the windows firewall off on the computer I can't access.
Not sure what else to try. any ideas?

I shut off the modem for 5 minuets and plugged it back in. this was with the ZyXEL PK5001Z Modem. then the Remote Desktop started working.
Now I have replaced it with a Netgear as explained in the other thread Printer keeps going offline.
