Remote for PC

Hi guys and girls
I'm not too sure if this is the correct topic, so i apologise in advance.

Yesterday i purcahsed a 'HP Pavilion p6565uk'

This computer came with a remote. Although im unure how it works
It came with a wire called 'IR' Blaster Cable' which im guessing is infared for the remote.

Although i am not to sure where to put this wire

Any help please?

Not 100% sure in your case but it may be a cable that you hook to your computer and then place in front of your cable box, VCR or whatever so that the computer can control the external device.

It's a media pc, so the control is for the computer, i'm just unsure where it goes :/

hmmm having trouble finding any manuals on this. I have not used a remote for a PC, but want one for mine to use as a media PC. If I find anything I will post it.

Theres nothing in the manuals i'm afraid, you can't really call it a manual theres hardly anything in it haha

ha. thats what I found too. I found the manual for your PC, but it didn't have anything in it for the IR cable.

Have you tried or can you try contacting HP? Customer Service / Contact HP

the remote should control your media center/meia player functions, volume etc, without having to use any type of cable. HP laptops usually have an infrared receiver integrated into the case somewhere.
the cable is only for controlling separate devices, such as a cable box, tv, dvd player, etc.
are you speaking of the small thin PCMCIA-slot remote, or the larger "media center" remote with the reciever box?
