Hi all,

I build a Java application (http://www.java-forums.org/advanced-java/38692-jni-registry-access-denied-error.html) and I want to connect to remote registry with my custom application.

The application runs on Windows 7 and I want to query Windows XP computer for some registry keys.

The application runs fine, if the scenario is XP -> XP, but fails in Win7 -> XP one.

I have completelly disabled UAC on Win7, but I still get the error.

Any ideas, what can prevent remote registry from working correctly other then UAC?

Thx,

Juraj

First thing that comes to mind is to make sure all the appropriate services are running on both machines. RPC and remote reg should both be running along with the normal network services. I believe RPC is disabled in most versions of 7 by default as the service represents a security risk in many situations.

Hi,

thank you for your reply.

I have checked the services and they're running .. Both RPC and remote registry.

Well that was basically my one shot in the dark.
The only other suggestion is to check firewalls on both machines.
