Remove Google Search History Before the New Policy Starts

On March 1st, Google will implement its new, unified privacy policy, which will affect data Google has collected on you prior to March 1st as well as data it collects on you in the future. Until now, your Google Web History (your Google searches and sites visited) was cordoned off from Google's other products. This protection was especially important because search data can reveal particularly sensitive information about you, including facts about your location, interests, age, sexual orientation, religion, health concerns, and more. If you want to keep Google from combining your Web History with the data they have gathered about you in their other products, such as YouTube or Google Plus, you may want to remove all items from your Web History and stop your Web History from being recorded in the future.

I turned off my web history a long time ago after stumbling across it by accident and was shocked too see everything I had been looking it...I also found it a little creepy.

Nice to see that this is one of those little things I don't have to worry about as I refuse to have anything to do with anything Google (gmail, Chrome, or any other Google app) other than as a search engine.

The shocking thing is it shares the history even if you are not logged in (for example, if someone used my router on a different PC and google account it will show up in mine.

I too discovered this about a year ago cleared it and turned it off a year ago. I check from time to time just in case Google decides to turn it back on.

Mine was off too, which is good.
I wasn't really worried about what's in my history, but it's just one of them "feels better this way" things.

My last google history search was Oct 30 2011. I'm not sure which 'go away google trick' I used since then :huh:

But at least it appeared to have worked

I refuse to even use the search engine any more. DuckDuckGo.com with Bing as a fallback works well for me.

Me on the Web

The Me on the Web section in your Google Dashboard can help you understand and manage what people see when they search for you on Google.

With Me on the Web, you can:

Get notified when your personal data appears on the web
You can use Me on the Web to alert you when your personal information--say, your email address or phone number--gets published online.

To create alerts:

Sign in to your Google Dashboard. http://goo.gl/2vUI
In the 'Me on the Web' section, click Set up search alerts for your data.
Select the checkboxes beside the alerts (such as your name or email address) you'd like to receive.
(Optional) Enter additional information (such as a home address) in the text field, then select the checkbox for that alert.
(Optional) Click Add another alert to create alerts for additional personal information.
In the 'How often' drop-down box, choose the alert frequency.
In the 'Deliver to' drop-down box, choose which email address your alerts should be sent to.
Click Save alert preferences.
To see information about you that already exists on the web, click View results beside the appropriate personal data.
