Remove MS Bluetooth Notebook 5000 Mouse

So, my daughter walked up to my wife 2 days ago holding our *dripping wet* Bluetooth Mouse saying "Oh no, Mommy! I put the mouse in the pottie!" :sarc:

Needless to say it didn't work more. So I went out to get a new one.

Now I'm attempting to connect the new mouse but it will not recognize it. I assume this is because there is already one in our Devices.

I've attempted all I can to remove the mouse from the Devices, to no avail. Searched this forum and many others and I'm finally giving in...

Can someone please tell me how to remove the mouse from my Devices???

(I have already updated my bluetooth software and uninstalled / reinstalled my "BT Mini-Receiver. Computer is a Dell XPS 450 with 8gigs Ram, Sporting Windows 7 Ultimate )

If you know how i can go about removing this device, let me know!

First of all, that is the cutest hardware failure ever.

So, you've uninstalled the hardware through Device Manager then?

I attempted to. It does not explicitly say "MS Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000". I uninstalled the "HID-Compliant Mouse", restarted the computer, and then *vawla* It still shows the Mouse under devices...

Are you using built in bluetooth, or a dongle? If it's a dongle, did you remove it and then restart your comp? Also, when you uninstalled through Device Manager, did you check the "Delete the drivers for this device" box?

I did it again. For some reason the computer is acting if the Mouse is still attached. When I click "Scan for hardware changes" it automatically loads the mouse...

Are you using the default drivers that Windows installs when you plug in the mouse?

I'm sorry, I'm unaware of what "a dongle" is... I'm assuming its Bluetooth...

The mouse is bluetooth, not plug in. I'm temporally using a plug in.

A dongle is what you plug into the usb port to pick up the signal from the mouse.

Edit: OK, so no dongle.

Have you tried updating to drivers from the MS website? Usually what they have there is updated from what Windows automatically installs.

Haven't tried that yet... But I'm beginning to think it may be a problem with my Bluetooth Receiver... I just attempted connecting my cell phone and it was not recognized...
