I added a toolbar which is nothing more than a folder on my hard drive and I'm looking for a way to remove it from the list of toolbars. Unchecking it is not what I'm looking for, yet it is the response given all over the internet. Please help me out because I can't figure it out and I'd rather not go futzing around with the registry. Thank you!

Mike

If we are talking about a toolbar in the browser, I always uninstall the toolbars here: Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features.

It is even better to uninstall them with the Revo uninstaller (advanced option) because this way you get rid of all their registry entries (of which they often have a lot).

If it is a toolbar in the taskbar, just delete the folder and then right click on the taskbar > Toolbars and uncheck this toolbar.

Thanks, but the problem is that the folder is to an installed program. I thought that Windows would scan the folder and create an actual toolbar, but I gave Microsoft too much credit and was stuck with the fallout. As for revo uninstaller, I have it installed, but it won't uninstall a folder and I'm not going to uninstall the program and delete the folder because the toolbar will still be in the list.

Michael,

I'm a bit confused. You say you want to remove the toolbar from the list, but the only way to do that is to uncheck it. This of course will also remove the toolbar from the taskbar.

If you are just wanting to have a pinned folder on the taskbar, but not as a toolbar, then you could use OPTION ONE in the tutorial below to do so.

Hope this helps. :)

Eliminating the line from the list is in no way relates to unchecking it. Unchecking it will only remove the toolbar (folder) from the toolbar, yet the line will still be in the list. I made a new toolbar out of the iTunes folder and want to remove it from the list so that when I can figure out how to create the real toolbar, the one that appears when iTunes is minimized, I won't have iTunes listed twice in the list of available toolbars. Thank you.

Have you tried Deleting that folder you created that you pointed to when making the new toolbar? First uncheck it in the Toolbar list then Delete the folder.

I did not want to delete the folder because it was for an installed program which was heavily customized. I decided to ignore caution and uninstall the program and to my delight, all of the customizations remained while the toolbar disappeared from the list.:D Thanks to everybody for all of their help!
