Remove old thumbnails from WMP12

I have a problem with Windows Media Player 12. When I delete a file (for exemple, a movie) directly from Windows Explorer, I cannot get rid of the old thumbnail of this movie in WMP.

I don't have these movies on my hard drive anymore, but WMP still show them in my library. If I right click and delete, nothing happens.

I already rebuild my index, but the movies still appears if I do a search, I don't know why...

Can someone help me fixing this?

See if they will delete in 'safe mode'

i have same problem...but with pictures. i tried safe mode and wmp12 will not open in safe mode. are these pics/videos residing somewhere in wmp12? tia

I think the problem is that the windows indexing service is not removing these files from the index.dat. Funny thing is that this problem happens only with file types that are not configured to be opened with WMP by default.

For example, my default movie player is VLC. If I delete a movie from my hard drive, it is still shown on a search, even after a rebuild of the index.dat. But if I delete an .mp3 file (which is by default opened with WMP), it is not shown anymore in the search.

it is odd......my problem is with removing .jpg files. i can delete them from my pc, remove the folder in wmp12 and the empty frame still appears in wmp12 withe title still under it.

Try this: In WMP, go to Tools, Advanced, "Restore Deleted itens from the library".

wmp12 WILL NOT allow pictures to be deleted at all....i have dis associated the picture folder, moved the picture folder to a different folder and tried directly deleting them in wmp12 to no avail. when i move the picture folder or rename it i get blank frames in wmp12 with original title still under the frame. i am about to just use a different program that actually allows you to move/change things much like windows explorer.........HEY MS, people do not like apps that scour their pcs when they do not want them to.....this issue has screwed up the pics in u-verse tv now also......
