remove recovery drive of vista and install win7

Dear friends,

Recently i bought a windows7 Ultimate, and i want to install it on my laptop. currently, my laptop working with vista.

My hard disk drive has two partitions. one is OS(C: ) and another is called Recovery(D: ).

my question is:

How can i remove Recovery driver (which is related to vista) and install a completely new win7 on my laptop?

1) The presence of the Vista recovery partition will not impact win7 in any way, OTOH you will retain the ability to restore Vista should you ever want to do that. I suggest you leave it alone unless you are constrained of hdd space.

2) If you really want to remove the recovery partition, do 2 things first:

Make recovery disks, there would be some kind of recovery software pre-installed on your computer (like HP recovery manager or Dell datasafe). Keep those disks safely.

Image your current vista installation using free Macrium, make a rescue disk and keep the image and the disk safely.

You paid for the Vista, these 2 steps will let you revert to it, should you want to.

Now, back up all user created data to external media and boot from the win7 dvd. I suggest you do a clean install, that'll wipe everything and install win7. Heres a tut.

Make sure you format the hard drive completely, then create fresh partitions and install win7.

After you have made backups of everything you care to save and you want to do a real wipe "clean all" to the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) have a look at this tutorial at the link below, it over-writes everything, all the old Windows code including all the old Vista drivers, giving you the best possible space to install Windows 7 to; it goes hand-in-hand with a clean install.

I have a bad experience with keeping recovery of vista untouched! my system found a problem, and went to recovery mode ... (you can guess): it switched backed my system to vista.
That's why i like to completely remove any trace of vista!
