how do i remove the run as administrator shield/icon on a program even though the 'run this program as administrator' button isn't selected?

The UAC shield overlay on a icon indicates that program will require you to give it UAC approval before it is allowed to open/run as elevated (run as administrator). Some programs require this as they were programed no matter if the 'run this program as administrator' option is selected in Compatibility Mode or not.

So the question isn't "how do I make this not run as administrator". The question (I have the same question) is "how do I get rid of this stupid badge overlay on the icon?" Of course it's not running as administrator - that box has been unchecked.

So I have a program that I was having some issues with. I never checked the "Run As Administrator" box. One time, I tried (to see if it fixed the problem) doing "Run As Administrator", and now I can't get that stupid badge to go away. It covers up parts of the Icon. There was a change that was made that now makes the stupid badge show up - there has to be a way to undo that change and thus make the badge go away.

Searching for how to do this I've seen some suggestions like renaming the app and recreating the icon. I've seen setting something up in task scheduler and creating an icon to point to that instead of pointing to the app. I've seen answers like "move it to another drive". These are band-aids. There's got to be a way to actually fix it.

"Ignore it" isn't an answer. "It doesn't matter" isn't an answer. "I don't know" is an answer, but it's not the one I'm looking for. I've found a whole lot of people asking the same question in various on-line forums, getting the same non-answers. You'd think Microsoft would get a clue and figure out people want to make the badge go away when you uncheck the box. Does anyone know how to fix it?
