Solved Removed faulty RAM, still BSODing after fresh install

As for the new RAM, I do have it but I haven't installed it yet, as I'd rather not introduce another new variable to the problem.

Good of you to resist this for a while, yes, until you're sure everything's stabilized.

Another small update. After running the GeForce 6600 fine for about a week, I got my hands on a GeForce 8800 GT and put that in to see what'd happen. Ran it not very hard for two days and it just gave me a nice BSOD. Note, that this 8800 GT is one I borrowed from someone else, not the 8800 GTS I had originally.

While I think all 3 cards use the same driver, I'll reinstall it anyhow, as having two seperate cards BSOD and one not is just confusing my head.

I don't know if it makes a lot of sense, but I think the GTS and GT both go in the same slot on my motherboard, while the 6600 goes in a different slot. I don't know what the chances of a slot failing are exactly, but you know, gotta try think of something to get this fixed. Any ideas?

I guess I have to wonder if Starcraft II is the cause of this. While running the 6600 I had to use low graphics settings, as the card is a lot older than the 8800 GTS/GT that I think were both on high. I was wondering, is there chance my RAM being in the wrong slots when I installed SCII have corrupted something related to high graphics, and not low? Textures or something? I'd just go straight ahead and reinstall it, but I live in the countryside so I basically have a 3rd world internet connection that wouldn't enjoy the patches very much.

Hopefully my PC should be okay now. After reinstalling the graphics driver with the 8800 GT in, I didn't have any problems other than the first BSOD for about a week. Finally, I caved and put the 2GB of RAM from Crucial back in, as I couldn't live any longer without my usual 4GB. Turns out StarCraft II crashed ~3 times, Firefox multiple times, and then I got a BSOD all within about 6 hours of doing this. I took out the RAM from the 4th slot, rebooted and everything has been fine since.

So basically, I have 3x 1GB sticks of RAM in the first 3 available slots starting from the left (please forgive the lack of technical terms). The 4th slot, I imagine, must be faulty or otherwise causing problems. While removing the 4th stick of RAM seemed to instantly fix the problems created by installing the two new sticks, and everything has been 100% stable for over a week now, please say if this setup is the worst thing imaginable.

I guess I can mark this as solved and try dish out some more +rep to those who helped. Eventually I'll go back to my original graphics card and hope the stability sticks around. I guess I could also try putting some RAM back into the 4th slot and seeing if the problems come back, but I want to try avoid annoying my PC demons any further.
